To me Saul Bass was one of the great graphic designers of the mid-20th Century. He was born in the Bronx district of New York in 1920. Even as a child he was said to have had a very creative mind, constantly drawing. I found that some of his great work was when he worked on Alfred Hitchcock film’s. In 1958 his first title film with Hitchcock was called Vertigo. The way he shot a close up of a woman’s face and then her eye before spinning into a sinister spiral as red soaked the screen was the first of its kind. I’d like to think that he set a new standard for opening titles.

one of the great designers i have much respect for is Andy Warhol. I must admit i am a enormous fan of his, if he was in a band i would be a groupie. The way he was able to take an every day object like the cambell’s soup, blow it up an call it art is truly genius. If i did that would i have had the same reponse or was he simple there at the right time and place. Was the world simply ready to see a differance in design.
